Since 2004, the Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School has provided a top-quality academic experience in a college-preparatory environment. Today, the demand for spaces at the Tindley School has become so overwhelming that we’re working to expand our reach in the community.
In August, 2012, Tindley Accelerated Schools launched Tindley Preparatory Academy, its second accelerated school in Indianapolis. By the fall of 2015, Tindley Accelerated Schools will manage a network of seven accelerated charter schools. And by the fall of 2023, Tindley Accelerated Schools will be a vibrant network of 14 schools fulfilling the promise of a college education for all students.
While each charter will have its own distinct character, there are consistent qualities that will be expected of every school:
- Accelerated Learning: Each student is expected to work at least one grade level ahead with the goal of selective college admission upon high school graduation.
- Extended Hours: Tindley Accelerated Schools schools commit to longer school days, weeks, and years for its neediest students.
- Quality Instruction: Tindley Accelerated Schools teachers are expected to serve students in an engaging, rigorous classroom setting.
- Small Size: Tindley Accelerated Schools is committed to a personalized academic setting for all students. No class will be larger than 22; no school will be larger than 300-500 students.
