Tindley Summit Academy will move to former IPS school building
Tindley Summit Academy, one of six schools in the Tindley Accelerated Schools network, that has served kindergarten through fifth grade students from its current location at 4002 N. Franklin Rd., will relocate just a few blocks east to its new location. Beginning in the fall of 2017, Tindley Summit will occupy the former TC Steele IPS School 98 at 3698 Dubarry Rd, near 38th and Post Road. Tindley leaders along with members of the community, officials from the State Senate and Mayor’s Office recently broke ground at the new location.
“We’re excited about the opportunity this move provides. After experiencing record enrollment this year, our new location will enable us to grow and continue to provide the transformative educational experience that our scholars’ parents have come to expect,” said Kelli Marshall, CEO of Tindley Accelerated Schools. “This new location provides us with the capacity to serve many more scholars and families, deepening our commitment to the eastside of Indianapolis. In addition, we will have much more land surrounding the new building, giving our students additional space for outdoor activities.”
Parents were informed of Tindley Summit’s pending relocation in early January, when school administrators were in the midst of identifying a suitable space in close proximity to its existing site. The school plans to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an ice cream social for students and their families to celebrate Tindley Summit’s opening before the start of school.
