Our Model

Tindley Accelerated Schools, in cooperation with parents and the broader community, will empower students – regardless of their past academic performance – to become successful learners who graduate with the capacity for rigorous college opportunities. Tindley will provide a powerful learning experience that intellectually engages, inspires, and spurs academic achievement through a challenging and interactive college-preparatory curriculum.

Back in 2004, the Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School launched to provide a top-quality, accelerated academic experience to urban youth in a college-preparatory environment. Over time, the demand for the Tindley experience became so overwhelming that we opened five additional schools to serve more kids, including elementary school and kindergarten students.

While each Tindley school has its own distinct character, there are consistent qualities within every school:
  • Accelerated Learning: Each student is expected to work at least one grade level ahead with the goal of selective college admission upon high school graduation.
  • Extended Hours: Tindley Accelerated Schools schools commit to longer school days, weeks, and years for those needing further academic assistance.
  • Quality Instruction: Tindley Accelerated Schools teachers are expected to serve students in an engaging, rigorous classroom setting.
  • Small Size: Tindley Accelerated Schools is committed to a personalized academic setting for all students. No class will be larger than 22; no school will be larger than 300-500 students
