Enrollment Basics

Is there a fee to attend Tindley?
No. Tindley is a tuition-free public charter school.

 

What is a public charter school?
Public charter schools are free public schools open to all students. They operate independently of traditional districts and focus on innovative, high-quality education.

 

Who can apply?
Any student in Indiana is eligible. Tindley does not require residency in a specific area or district.

 

What is Enroll Indy?

When can I apply?
Tindley follows Enroll Indy’s application windows. Apply early to secure your seat!

 

When can my child start kindergarten at Tindley?
Children who turn 5 years old on or before October 1 are eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the upcoming school year.

 

Academics & Support

Does Tindley follow the IPS calendar?
No. Tindley operates on an accelerated academic schedule designed to push students ahead academically.

 

Are there fees for lunch or book rental?
No. Lunch and book rental are free.

 

Does Tindley have special education services?
Yes. Tindley offers a SPED Department to support students with individualized learning needs.

 

Do you support English learners?
Yes. Tindley welcomes and supports multi-language learners from all backgrounds, with a dedicated Language Lab program at Tindley Summit Academy for targeted language and literacy support.

 

What is Early College, and why does it matter?
Tindley is proud to be Indiana’s first Early College High School. This means our high school scholars can take college-level courses and earn college credit while still in high school.
It gives students a head start on their degrees, saves families thousands in tuition, and builds the confidence and skills needed for college success.

 

Transportation

Is transportation provided?
We do not offer neighborhood bus service, but we provide:

  • IndyGo bus passes

  • Daily transportation from Tindley Summit Academy (K–6) to Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School (7–12)

 

Athletics & Activities

What sports does Tindley offer?

Tindley offers a wide range of athletics:

  • Middle & High School: Basketball, Football, Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Volleyball, Track & Field, Cross Country, Cheer

  • Elementary: Basketball, Flag Football, Cheer

 

Are there after-school clubs?
Yes! Clubs and enrichment activities include:

  • Robotics

  • Innovation Lab

  • Brains & Beauty Girls Empowerment Club

  • Community Garden

  • Band Club
