Office of Literacy

Quality, Rigorous English Language Arts Instruction:

In every classroom, teachers will cultivate literate scholars who can think critically, write clearly, communicate effectively, and read with an understanding through differentiated instruction. They will also engage with complex texts which include increasingly rich vocabulary that is utilized to increase student interest and enjoyment in reading.

We believe scholars can:

* Comprehend a range of texts and media

* Communicate ideas while responding to varying demands and points of views

* Generate questions and seek answers through critical analysis of text and media

* Seek an understanding of themselves and others

* Embrace lifelong learning and reading for enjoyment

* Develop a critical eye and appreciate the written word
